Dr. Gore is a neurologist and biomedical engineer specialized in the vestibular, oculomotor, and balance systems with specific interest in the assessment and treatment of patients following traumatic brain injury. He is Director, Complex Concussion Clinic and Medical Director, SHARE Military Initiative at the Shepherd Center, Atlanta. Dr. Gore is part of an interdisciplinary research team developing methods to assess performance and quantify brain injury in military and civilian populations. Current research interests are focused on the assessment and rehabilitation of complex concussions including injuries resulting in protracted recovery and military blast injuries with a focus on post-concussive vestibular, oculomotor, and balance dysfunction. Specific efforts include investigating post-concussive protracted recovery including post-concussive driving, characterizing the overlapping neurophysiology of traumatic brain injury with affective disorders (ie. depression), substance use disorders, and other neurologic conditions (ie. migraine), assessment of rehabilitation technologies, clinical response to technology-enhanced neurorehabilitation, characterizing the neurophysiology underlying vestibular and oculomotor function using advanced clinical and imaging techniques, phenotyping and predictive analysis using combined clinical and neuroimaging data. Dr. Gore serves as a neurotrauma consultant and advisor for national athletics organizations, college and professional sports teams, the Veterans Administration, and the Department of Defense.
